Does One Couple's Happiness Rub Off?

Yesterday we got together with another couple, friends of ours from the Berkshires. I have been friends with the wife since grade school and we are both very happily married to our second husbands. We had a wonderful lunch, shared a bottle of wine, and shared desert at a picnic table in a nearby state park.
Since Chuck and I have found each other, I have noticed all kinds of couples...some happy together, but most not happy together. When we go out with other couples, it's so much more fun to go out with another couple that loves and respects each other. There's a camaraderie there that doesn't exist with the others. There's a lot more laughter and smiles while we are all together.

I have been hearing a lot about how you should get rid of people in your lives that are negative influences, because they just bring you down. This makes a lot of rid your life of negative influences means there's more room to bring positive people into it. I wonder if this is true for couples as well though? Should a couple with a good relationship get rid of those couples they know that have been married for years, and are miserable together? Or what of those who have forgotten how much they love each other? If a couple has a good, strong relationship, should they make the effort to continue friendships with couples who aren't so happy, and maybe their happiness and maybe their happiness and displays of affection for each other ( holding hands, an arm around a shoulder, etc.) will rub off on the not so happy couple? Sometimes Chuck and I are out with one of the not so happy couples, we will see them holding hands after dinner, like we are. I wonder if there's any way happy couples improve the relationship between those that aren't. What are your thoughts on that?

Romance is Not Dead on Hub Pages!

I have been writing a lot of "hubs", or articles on the Hub Pages web site. On Hub Pages, anyone can start an account and write about anything they would like. I have 45 Hubs written so far. I am actually quite pleased with the results because I enjoy writing so much. BUT I also am pleased with which articles are getting the most attention. I have written on everything from shopping with coupons to cruises to romance, and the two hubs with the most hits that people have read is:1) Bucket Lists for Couples, and 2) Twelve Reasons I Love My Husband. Those 2 far outshine all the other articles in terms of number of views. That gives me hope and reassurance that romance is not dead. In fact, it's alive and kicking!!! Here's the link to my profile with the articles listed if you would like to read any:

Dinner Last Night

We had such a nice dinner together last night. Because we are both busy with our jobs, and me with my kids, and Chuck with his traveling for work, we don't have that much time alone together as a couple. So most Saturday nights we try to go out to dinner. alone, just the 2 of us. Last night we went to the Fisherman, in Noank, CT. We had been there before, but not for a few years. We made a reservation, but being in the off season, we didn't really need one. We were given a table by the window, and had it been earlier in the evening, we would have had a great water view. The waiter was extremely attentive to us. We ordered a wedge salad, which we always split whenever we go out to dinner. This tradition started on our very first date. Chuck had the best piece of scrod he said he has ever had, and I had a delicious lobster and angel hair pasta with cream sauce dish.I had enough left over to bring it home for dinner tonight! They have a regular size order, and a petite size. I didn't want to be too full, so ordered the petite size, which was pretty large anyway. The waiter said that the only difference was that there was more lobster in the regular sized order, and the same amount of pasta in both. We each had one glass of wine, and the bill came to $54 including tax. The food, service, atmosphere, and company were all wonderful, making for a very enjoyable night! I am so grateful for times like this in our life together.

A Bucket List For Couples

I just wrote an article on Hub Pages about developing a Bucket List as a couple. Since the movie The Bucket List came out in 2007, everyone knows what a Bucket List is...a list of things that you, as an individual, want to do before you die. In my article, I propose a Bucket List for couples so that you and your significant other can develop a list of fun and meaningful things you want to do together during your lifetime as a couple. You can find this article here:

I hope you enjoy it, and yes, Chuck and I do have A Bucket List!

Do You Have a Happy Marriage?

I recently started writing articles at Hub Pages. For those of you won't don't know what that is, it's a website where anyone can go and write and publish articles about anything they want. You have a profile page where people can access all your articles and learn a bit about you.People can also leave comments about your article. It's been great fun for me. I recently wrote an article about the 12 Reasons I Love My Husband, and it got a huge response with that article being read more than any of my others, and also getting the most comments by readers. You can access the article here:

The positive response to this article was really surprising to me. Where are all the happy couples out there? We always seem to hear about people who are unhappily married, or complain about their spouses. Where are all the happy couples? If you have a happy marriage, I want to hear about it! Please leave a comment below or if it's easier for you, on the Hub Pages site and tell the rest of us about your happy marriage. Come on people...let's brag about our happiness with our spouses for a change!
